Hone your craft, finish your masterpiece
The workshop meets every Thursday evening at 7pm in Park Slope, where participants give each other detailed feedback on work they’ve submitted that week.
All members have a weekly writing deadline: Tuesday morning at 8:00am. This is also the deadline for filing submissions, to give everyone enough time to read your work and provide feedback.
You’re welcome to workshop book-length writing projects like novels, screenplays, and memoirs, but you may submit a maximum of 5000 words per week. There is no minimum, but everyone is required to submit something every week. Even if you miss the deadline and don’t file, you’re expected to come to the workshop meeting and give feedback to your fellow writers.
At the top of each workshop, the instructor will lead the class in a discussion of an aspect of the craft of writing. The class will then workshop each submission in turn. Meetings will conclude with a writing exercise to stimulate creativity and give students ideas and momentum for the next week’s assignment.
